Danville, N.H. — Roland A. Soucy, age 93, of Danville, N.H. and prior long-time resident of Haverhill, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 3, 2012.

Born June 11, 1919, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving as squad leader in the 26th Yankee Division and was wounded in France, earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, serving until 1945 in the occupation of Germany. Upon his return to civilian life, he was employed by Western Electric, retiring from there in 1981 after 30 years. He was a dedicated family man and a faithful servant to the Lord at his home church, West Congregational, and was famous for his blueberry pancake breakfasts. His expertise in carpentry and his willingness to fill any need was a blessing to all.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Lorraine (Comeau) Soucy; brothers, Leo, Joseph and Roger Soucy; sisters, Annette (Soucy) Beaulieu and Ramona (Soucy) Fici. He is survived by one brother, Armand Soucy and wife, Norma; four sons; Roland A. Soucy Jr., and fiancée Sandy Rizzotti, John R. Soucy and wife Cheryle A. Soucy, Paul M. Soucy and wife Mary Ellen Soucy, Mark J. Soucy and wife Andrea Soucy. Additionally, he leaves behind eight great-grandchildren; Zachary, Peyton, Ellamarie, Juliana, Ty, Emma and Cameron Soucy and Anthony Barker; and many nieces and nephews.

He left this earth while in the capable and caring hands of the staff of Colonial Poplin Nursing Home to whom the family is extremely grateful.
